Project Progress Updates
We've listed the 5 general phases this project will go through below. Each phase that is completed is another step towards a new track in the Denver area. We'll keep everyone updated as we make progress and get closer to announcing a track layout and some target dates. Check this page regularly as we try and keep everyone updated!
Step 1: Locate Land (done)
Step 2: Obtain Permits (done)
Step 3: Plan Facilities (current phase) *updated on 11/30/07
Step 4: Build Facilities
Step 5: Open Facilities
Step 1: Locate Land (done)
We researched land north and south of I-70 and west of our location (up to 50 miles west). Generally, water is in short supply or non-existent north of I-70, roads are generally unpaved (gravel and dirt), availability of hotels, restaurants, fuel, medical facilities, and other amenities is either non-existent or Limon is the nearest. Therefore, we believe our site is uniquely situated to provide safe and clean town water, paved roads, and other amenities that members, racers, and other car and motorcycle enthusiasts will find enhance their experience with us.
Finding land for a 5.86 mile road course isn't as easy as you might think. We did a lot of research and ultimately located a large parcel in Lincoln County. The development site is located approximately 1-mile of the south of Genoa, Colorado exit off I-70. We felt the distance from downtown Denver and Colorado Springs was close enough to attract racing enthusiasts, and yet, still far enough away from the growing metro area to prevent future conflicts with other development.
Step 2: Obtain Permits (done)
This step is usually not done this early on in the process. We felt it was important to get it out of the way before proceeding since it tends to be one of the biggest hurdles for race track development these days, as witnessed by the many past track projects that have died in the zoning process. We've spent countless hours handling legal issues and making sure we could get the land properly permitted for our use. At this time, we are the only race track proposal that has land and a perpetual land use permit, which is a huge barrier to cross. The people of Lincoln County, the Lincoln County Land Use Board, Lincoln County Commissioners and Lincoln County Economic Development Corp. have stood behind the development of this project. We would like to thank everyone that has helped us get where we are today. You all have been very supportive.
Step 3: Plan Facilities (current phase)
We're now working on securing funding and planning out the track and the surrounding facilities. Check our homepage regularly as we add renderings of the track design and the various building we expect to build.
We have partnered with the track and site design team of Crested Butte, Colorado based Martyn Thake and Motorsports Consulting Services, LLC and Denver based Kyle Chism of GRIP, LLC to plan and design the facilities.

Update - 10/9/07
We have engaged Denver based BY Group (BYG - www.bygroup.com) to coordinate our construction, planning, state, and county permitting needs (their tag line is "Integrating architecture and construction"). We chose them after interviewing several firms and feel they will give us the logistical/construction integration we need. The folks at BYG have been on the property several times and are extremely excited to be a part of this.
Martyn Thake and Kyle Chism (the track design team - Motorsports Consulting) are very pleased with the selection of BYG since they will need to work closely with them to be certain the track they have designed is properly constructed. Martyn and Kyle are still responsible for all aspects of the track construction itself and BYG will coordinate the various construction phases. Both BYG and Martyn/Kyle will work together on the Master Plan layout to be certain areas such as the hot pits, paddocks, garages, condo/garages, etc work together properly.
Also, and in conjunction with BYG, we have also engaged JR Engineering out of Colorado Springs (http://westrian.com/jr/). Their first effort is to get the engineered survey completed. They expect to finish this in the next three to four weeks and will include aerial topography. JR Engineering was also involved in Pikes Peak International Raceway when it was built.
Update
We have already begun Phase II of the design stage. This includes the coordination of the various engineering disciplines, refining the site plan to include specific locations for buildings, garages, Condo/Garages, and a variety of Members amenities as well as greater definition (pre-engineering) of the track itself. Preliminary soil testing has been done and leads to the start of this phase.
Step 4: Build Facilities
The turn of the dirt will be the first tangible sign that reality is near. We will, of course, post photos and updates as this phase takes shape.
Step 5: Open Facilities
The moment everyone in the Colorado region has been waiting for - the grand opening of a new club race track! Just like you, we can hardly wait!
The phases listed above are very generalized. Many things will need to happen in each phase and we can't go over every detail. Just know that we're working frantically every day to keep everything on schedule. We'll post updates on this page as well as the homepage when news becomes available. Once the facility is open, we'll turn on our event calendar and will begin posting upcoming events.
